If you are new to the kiteboarding scene, and are seriously interested in it, the first thing you need to do is research.
Get on the internet and read articles about the sport, read up on the equipment, get a grasp on the expenses that come
along with the sport and basically try to learn everything you possibly can from a computer screen before spending any
money. Also check out major bookselling stores (Hastings, Books-A-Million, etc.) for kiteboarding magazines, books, etc.
There are plenty of kiteboarding videos on youtube.com that you can watch as well.

After doing all of that, you will then need to purchase a trainer kite. Mastering the control of a trainer kite will give you the
basic idea of how a much bigger kiteboarding kite will handle. You can purchase a trainer kite from David Fudge, whom
is a local (Oklahoma) kiteboarder. You can also pick up a trainer kite/DVD combo from Kitty Hawk Kites. This is similar to
the trainer kite that I purchased. I found it to be a really good kite and am really pleased with it's performance. The DVD
(The Way to Fly) that it came with was also very helpful. David will be able to get you a trainer kite for a better price however.
So if you reside in the Oklahoma City area, I would definately check in with him before spending more money on the trainer
kite that I purchased.

As far as actual lessons go, it is crutial that you take them. This can be a very dangerous sport if you do not know what you
are doing. That is one of the reasons that kiteboarders stronly urge newcomers to take lessons. Taking lessons will save
you tons of time and money. If you are not aware, there are several aspects to kiteboarding that can be covered by lessons.
Concepts such as safety, launching, riding, etc will all be covered by your kiteboarding instructor. As of right now, there are
no certified instructors who will host scheduled, organized kiteboarding lesson or camp in the state of Oklahoma. As this
is the windiest state in the nation and as the sport is becoming more and more popular, that could possibly change one day.
But for now if you are wanting lessons, you are going to have to check out something out of state.

Lastly, if you have any questions about kiteboarding, please contact me. I would love to help you out and try to get you
educated to the best of my ability. It's still a learning process for me as well, but I have been doing tons of research and
slowly advancing my way to becoming a regular kiteboarder.
